This day I taught on the verses from the Sunday Mass [below] and mentioned the bible verses that pastor Bil spoke on at Church Unlimited.
The common theme from the Mass verses was actually the judgement on Judas for his betrayal of Jesus.
In the Acts chapter 1 reading Peter quotes from psalms 109 and says Judas office needs to be replaced-
Acts 1:15 And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (the number of names together were about an hundred and twenty,)
Acts 1:16 Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus.
Acts 1:20 For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and his bishoprick let another take.
And in Acts 1 we read of the casting of lots- and the replacement is named-
Acts 1:26 And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.
In the John 17 passage- Jesus speaks of keeping his men- yet the only one that ‘is lost’ is Judas- in fulfillment of the scripture-
John 17:12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.
I found it interesting that this theme came up at this time.
In the past- when ever I come across Psalms 109- it usually indicates a type of judgment on corrupt earthly rulers- and this was a theme I was speaking on during the week.
And Psalms 109 was the actual passage Peter quoted from in Acts 1.
In all of God’ dealings- judgement and mercy are aspects of producing righteousness- both in society as well as in each of us.
Many scholars have looked at the role of Judas- and some early Gnostics had a gospel named after Judas [it was indeed a fake].
Yet it showed the point of view that Judas actually served the purpose of God- even in his infamous betrayal of the Son of God.
Which is something all readers of church history would agree on.
I also taught some on the last chapter of John’s gospel- and the interaction between Jesus and Peter-
John 21:15 So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.
John 21:16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
John 21:17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
John 21:18 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdest thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not.
John 21:19 This spake he, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had spoken this, he saith unto him, Follow me.

I’ll add my past studies/teachings below that pastor Bil preached on [the verses he used- I’ll add those complete studies].
As of now- I’m not sure if I will jump into a new series of teaching- I recently finished Colossians [ https://ccoutreach87.com/colossians-links/ ] and hope to cover more complete bible books.
[Here’s a list of the ones I’ve already done https://ccoutreach87.com/my-bible-commentaries-other-links/ ]
I also plan on making another New Jersey- NYC trip this year- and when I make those trips I try to post videos- and type a sort of journal for the few weeks I’m away- https://ccoutreach87.com/nyc-new-jersey-trip-2015/ https://ccoutreach87.com/n-j-nyc-2017/
So for now- I’ll post this and encourage you to follow the links- and engage yourself- possibly start your own video/blog- or an outreach to the homeless- or maybe a weekly home group?
My goal is not simply to get as many readers or viewers of my sites- but to also inspire others to be active.
Ok- that’s it for now-
John
